Kunst- & Kulturveranstaltungen in München
„Kamakan“ presents music from southern Iran, blending a variety of subcultures such as Afro-Iranian, Arab-Iranian, and port city rhythms into an alternative interpretation. The lyrics of the band’s songs are a mix of classical Persian and Arabic poetry, as well as original pieces by the band in both languages. This is noteworthy given the prevalent nationalism in the Middle East, where both pan-Persian and pan-Arab nationalisms have contributed to deepen the rupture between Persian and Arab cultures. In this context, the band, beyond its musical quality, also serves as a call to overcome this mutual hostility, both within Iran and in the broader region.
